Officers found the man about 4:30 p.m. Thursday inside a home in the 5600 block of South Throop Street, police said.
John Velez was just 17 when he was found guilty of killing Anthony Hueneca in March 2001. Velez served 16 years in prison before the conviction was vacated after a witness’s admission that he hadn’t actually seen the shooting happen.
The man, 26, was arguing with someone about 3:35 a.m. in the 500 block of East 47th Street when he was shot in the chest and arm, Chicago police said.
Chad Irish, 55, is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanor menacing, according to Manhattan prosecutors.
