“The state can’t give or take away who you are,” said Sasha Buchert, a senior attorney at the LGBTQ+ advocacy group Lambda Legal. “But it certainly is nice to have a gender marker that reflects who you are.”
A 12-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl were shot about 9:20 p.m. in the 500 block of East 31st Street. A 16-year-old boy was shot about 10:15 p.m. in the 3400 block of South King Drive.
David O'Donnell, 27, died and another worker was injured Thursday after they fell from scaffolding at still-under-construction University of Chicago Cancer Center. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
"They play on Fridays, they go to lunch on Wednesday, often bowl on Tuesdays, and sometimes go golfing on Thursday. That kind of structure and that kind of community that all of these guys have is gold," says Greg Zerkis.
