In the first quarter of this year, there were 311 dog adoptions at Animal Care Centers of NYC – not even half of the pre-pandemic rate.
Tony Maticic was doing his rounds when he saw about 2 feet of water cascading out the door of the Heartland Animal Shelter. His quick action helped save the lives of 101 dogs and cats.
A water main break Wednesday morning at Heartland Animal Shelter left 2 feet of water in the building and displaced rescued dogs and cats. No animals were hurt.
