Around 5 p.m. Friday, a large group of protesters had surrounded the Institute of Politics. Shortly after that, a group of police officers, equipped with riot shields, burst into the building and scuffled with protesters.

The shelter at the former Wadsworth Elementary School building, 6420 S. University Ave., was recently 'decompressed' and all residents were moved to other temporary shelters or have found permanent housing, city officials said.
The male victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest about 7:20 p.m. inside a car that crashed into a wall in the 6700 block of South Woodlawn Avenue.
