A 43-year-old man was shot in the 8000 block of South Stewart Avenue at about 8 a.m., police said.
The 19-year-old man was in a second-floor apartment in the 300 block of North Long Avenue about 1:30 a.m. when he was stabbed in his abdomen and chest by two men who were known to the victim, police said.
Seaman 2nd Class Michael Malek died aboard the USS Oklahoma in 1941, but his remains weren't identified until February 2021. His niece and namesake grand-nephew will attend his burial June 6 in Hawaii.
Though the worker has since resigned and been indicted, the employee continued to work on the same unit for 11 days without restriction.
