A 31-year-old motorist rear-ended a semi about 12:50 a.m. Saturday in the southbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway near Harlem Avenue. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
City Hall said the move had been made out of an abundance of caution, and that there were no known ties or threats to New York City.
The 38-year-old was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead.
The city said the proposed route raised safety concerns and responded with an alternate route.
