State police responded to reports of a crash in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 107th Street about 7:17 p.m. Monday and found a child dead, police said. Others in the car were hospitalized.
A man, 18, and woman, 19, were in a car in the 9600 block of South Green Street about 5:37 p.m. Monday when two people with handguns approached and shot them, police said.
Authorities say a man who tried to stop four people from taking his sister's car with her two children inside early Monday was shot and hospitalized in critical condition. The children were unhurt. No one is in custody.
