Police responded to a reported kidnapping Sunday in the 5500 block of North Austin Avenue about 4:39 p.m. where a witness said they saw a woman and child being forced into an SUV by two men, police said.
They were standing near the sidewalk around 7:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Quincy Street when a black Kia drove by and someone from inside the car opened fire.
The encampment at the Lincoln Park campus had been been in place since April 30. The action came after school officials said they had reached an impasse with the protesters.
