Man dies after tumbling into Chicago River on Lower West Side

The man fell off of a bridge at 23rd and Halsted streets around 7:15 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department posted on X. He was pronounced dead shortly after he was found.


Divers tried to rescue a man who died after falling off a bridge into the south branch of the Chicago River Wednesday morning on the Lower West Side. He was pronounced dead shortly after he was found, officials said. “The divers had to search the murky waters for him,” Langford said. “He was not on the surface.”
