Melissa Villanova, a 911 dispatcher, suffered an irregular heart rhythm April 29 — five months after her husband, a Chicago police officer, was shot while on duty. After surgery and weeks in the ICU, Villanova took her first steps this week.
Jeremy Stone, 31, was arrested Sunday afternoon, about an hour after he allegedly shot another man, 31, in the 2100 block of East 71st Street about 1:16 p.m., police said.
The man, 26, was in the 7000 block of South Merrill Avenue Monday about 3:40 p.m. when someone approached and shot him in his head, chest and waist, police said.
