Carlos Acosta, a former state welfare case worker, was found guilty last year of endangering the life and health of a child in the 2019 death of 5-year-old A.J. Freund. Acosta ignored evidence of physical abuse before A.J. was beaten to death by his mother.
A city ordinance that codifies a 2011 executive order barring mayors from taking campaign cash would “bolster public confidence in the integrity of Chicago government,” the director of the city’s board of ethics said.
"They play on Fridays, they go to lunch on Wednesday, often bowl on Tuesdays, and sometimes go golfing on Thursday. That kind of structure and that kind of community that all of these guys have is gold," says Greg Zerkis.
