“Justice for Jai’Mani” and “justice for number seven” were among the rallying cries for the boy who was shot and killed Tuesday outside his home on the Near West Side. No one has been arrested.
The boy was walking out of his home about 3 p.m. in the 2300 block of West Jackson Boulevard when shots were fired, striking him in the chest, police said. Sources say an assault-style rifle was used in the attack.
The high-pitched ringing noise emanates day and night from a small box on the roof of a vacant building at 2380 S. Halsted, an area where migrants frequently gather. The building owners couldn't be reached.
