2 dead, 3 injured in 2-car crash in West Garfield Park

Two cars collided about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 4200 block of West Lake Street. Both vehicles then struck supports for the CTA elevated train tracks. Two people were killed, and three people were hurt.


Two men are dead and two others in critical condition following a crash early Saturday morning in West Garfield Park, police said.A Dodge Durango collided with a gray sedan in the 4200 block of West Lake Street, causing both vehicles to strike the pillars of the CTA elevated train tracks, Chicago police said. The driver of the Durango was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park about 2:10 a.m. and pronounced dead.Three men who were passengers in the sedan and one male passenger in the Durango were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were all listed in critical condition. One of them later died, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.The Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
